Join us as we celebrate the power of generosity and the positive change it creates.

In this edition, we sit down with Dana Levko - Head of People & Culture, to discuss Pwrteams’ ongoing efforts to support Ukraine amid the ongoing full-scale war. Dana shares insights into how the Ukraine Support Fund, launched in 2022 by Pwrteams' parent company - Nortal, has evolved and the impact it continues to have in 2024. From direct humanitarian aid to critical medical and mental health support, Dana explains the company’s commitment to making a difference in the lives of our employees in Ukraine and the broader community during these challenging times.

In 2022, the Ukraine Support Fund was launched. Can you share some details about the 2024 commitment?

Absolutely. The Ukraine Support Fund was created in direct response to the devastating impact of the war on our employees and the wider community. Our goal has always been to provide tangible support, not just in the immediate aftermath but for the long term. Each year, we’ve continued to allocate resources, and in 2024, we’ve committed to further these efforts.

This year, the biggest part of the fund is directed towards charitable initiatives, such as supporting the Serhiy Prytula Charity Foundation with a focus on tactical medicine. Our contribution has already helped purchase 21 medical backpacks, each capable of saving up to eight lives, along with 82 individual first-aid kits.

We've also donated to the Fund of 125th Territorial Brigade to purchase different equipment such as laptops and we are also supporting the SP Charity Fund founded by the Pwrteams' employee Ruslan Tereshchenko.

What does the remaining part of the fund focus on?

The remaining part of the fund is set aside as a reserve, ensuring that we can address the dynamic needs of our employees and their families. It serves as a safety net, enabling us to respond quickly to urgent situations, such as evacuation and humanitarian aid when dangerous situations arise. However, if, hopefully, such situations wouldn't happen, the rest of the funds will be allocated to other humanitarian initiatives, on which we will keep reporting.

Additionally, we recognise the importance of mental well-being, especially during such a prolonged crisis. So, part of this reserve is dedicated to providing therapy sessions, mental health webinars and other initiatives aimed to educate and support our team with coping the immense challenges they face every day in Ukraine.

Can you share details about the initiatives supported in previous years?

Of course. Over the past two years, our efforts have covered a range of critical needs. For example, we provided winter care packages to help our employees through the harsh conditions during power outages.

Another major initiative was funding advanced simulation equipment for the Department of Pediatrics and Neonatology at Danylo Halytsky Lviv National Medical University. This equipment helps train future healthcare professionals in emergency response, which has become even more crucial given the increased risks of premature birth during the war.

Additionally, we supported the University of Lviv with cybersecurity licenses, ensuring their digital infrastructure remains secure.

On a more personal level, we’ve provided housing support for colleagues who lost their homes due to missile attacks, helped with logistical costs for those needing to relocate, and offered clothing and medical supplies to employees serving in the army. It’s been about creating a safety net that our people can rely on, no matter the challenge.

It sounds like a multifaceted approach. What motivates this ongoing commitment?

Our commitment is deeply rooted in our values as a company and our connection to our team in Ukraine.

When the war began, it was clear that we couldn’t just stand by - we needed to take action. Our employees are more than just colleagues - they’re part of our extended family. The challenges they face aren’t just professional but deeply personal. By providing this support, we aim to ensure that they feel safe, valued and supported in every aspect of their lives.

Beyond that, our efforts are also about showing solidarity with the Ukrainian people. The resilience we’ve seen is incredibly inspiring, and it motivates us to keep contributing in meaningful ways.
